Oxygen tanker reaches Delhi’s GTB Hospital 30 Mins Before Oxygen Ran Out, 500 critical Covid patients saved

After Delhi Health Minister tweeted that Delhi’s GTB Hospital was running out of medical oxygen, one oxygen tanker reached the hospital just in time at 1:30 am on Wednesday. More than 500 critical Covid-19 patients on oxygen were admitted at the hospital and the supply was not expected to last beyond 2 am.

“We were honestly praying to God for a miracle to happen. When we saw the oxygen tanker arrive at our premises, the entire staff was in tears,” Doctors of GTB Hospital

Tagging Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Satyendar Jain urged the center to help restore oxygen supply in Delhi’s hospitals.

He also posted screenshots that read, “There is great difficulty in getting the supply of liquid medical oxygen and oxygen cylinders from vendor M/S INOX. According to local district authorities, DM [district magistrate] and SSP [senior superintendent of police] do not allow the vendor to supply to other states like Delhi.

A few hours before that, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had appealed to the central government to “urgently provide oxygen to Delhi” on Twitter. He said there is a serious oxygen crisis in the city and hospitals are running out of supply.

The number of cases in Delhi on a daily basis is rising at a very high rate. On Tuesday, Delhi recorded 28,395 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking its total active case to over 85,500. This is Delhi’s highest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began.
